The End of the World As We Know It?

5,000 years ago the ancient Maya predicted that the world would end on 21st December 2012, however we at Amadeus Software are confident that they were incorrect.

The reason for this confidence... SAS software supports dates up to 31st December in the year 20,000 so we still have another 17,987 years and 10 days to go!!!

Don't forget that you can use date literals in SAS code, rather than having to convert them into SAS date numbers. It is not often that we include example code which contains deliberate errors but just to illustrate the SAS interpretation of the end of the world...

2012 12 MJ end of the world code

Produces the following log messages as SAS attempts to compile the code:

2012 12 MJ end of the world log

We're still not too worried though as we are confident that SAS Institute will release a hot fix in plenty of time to extend our shelf life even longer!
