Creating a UK Region Map with SAS Visual Analytics
SAS Visual Analytics has very powerful geographical presentations, including regions inside countries. In order to work with geographical maps, the data that we are trying to present needs to contain some variables defined with a Geographical role.
If we are interested in dividing the UK map into each county, then each county needs to be defined as a geographical region. Within SAS Visual Analytics Report Builder, select the county name and change its default role into Geography and Subdivision (State, Region, Province) Names.
SAS Visual Analytics will then prompt for the name of the country where these regions* refer to:
Assigning the new defined County into the Geo Region map and a measure to control the fill gradient displayed will finally create our UK regional map:
*Note that the names of these counties need to be aligned to the ones expected by the software. A full list can be found under http://support.sas.com/rnd/datavisualization/va63geo/subdivs.html
